The monarchy’s main contribution is its social psychological function: it provides unity, continuity, and a sense of national identity that transcends political divisions. In a constitutional system, the monarch isn’t tasked with making policy or running the economy; those responsibilities lie with elected government and official institutions. Instead, the monarchy acts as a non-partisan symbol of tradition and stability, offering a focal point for public pride, shared values, and collective memory. This symbolic leadership helps the country feel cohesive, especially in times of crisis or change, which is why the social psychological function is considered the most important role within the framework.
