What is the common name for London's underground rail system?

In London, people commonly refer to the underground rail system as The Tube. It’s the everyday term you’ll hear in conversation, on travel advice, and in media. The nickname comes from the tubular shape of the deep-wLevel tunnels that make up much of the network, and it stuck as a familiar, informal way to talk about the system. Official signage and maps use London Underground or Underground in more formal contexts, but for daily speech The Tube is the name most people use. The Subway is not used for London’s system; that term is more typical of places like the United States.
